About Sutomore

Sutomore is one of the most popular resorts on the Montenegrin coast. Mountain ranges in the hinterland, wide sandy beaches and open sea of the Adriatic Sea have created a climate condition that Sutomore include in the best of health and recreational regions of southern Europe.

Adriatic coast in the municipality of Bar is over 30 kilometers long. In rocky areas and steep cliffs, on it is more beautiful sandy beaches, a length of over 6 kilometers: Pecin, Canj, Maljevik, Strbine, Sutomore, Ratac, Red beach, Large sand, Bay olives. Also on Skadar Lake, there are several small idyllic beaches.

Coast of Bar area has a large impact on the physical-geographical characteristics of the coast and is considered the most beautiful coastline in the southern Adriatic. Sea temperature in this part is the hottest in the Adriatic and ranges is between 11 degrees in winter to 25 degrees in summer. This means that the average annual water temperature is about 17.5 degrees, and bathing season lasts from May to October.

Sutomore can be divided into three parts: a field where live most of the inhabitants is located in the eastern part of Spic fields, coast which includes the 2km promenade along the beach and the surrounding villages (Rutke, Brca, Nehaj, Misici...).

In the Spic, the region where there are Sutomore and Canj today, the first settlers arrived in the sixteenth century. Since the eighteenth century in Spic are two great vineyards: on the Spic field and in Brca. These were the highest vineyards on the coast. Town Sutomore was created in 1882 when they built the first houses on the coast.

Sutomore is an ideal place for vacation. The beach is well arranged, the water crystal clear. There are many restaurant, cafes, shops... so you can buy almost everything. Prices are quite OK, or the same as in Serbia, or up to ten per cent more expensive. Food is also excellent. Waterworks has worked well this year so there are no problems with water for showering...
